In my quest to help vegans find a good homemade hiking meal solution to fit their needs, I came across nutritional yeast, and was blown away by the nutritional value that it carries. On top of all of the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that are present in nutritional yeast, are all of these amino acids and other nutrients. If you're like me, you probably haven't even heard of many of them, but nutritional yeast brings them to your meals.
As if the above-listed nutrient-dense properties of the nutritional yeast weren't enough, these additional (albeit largely obscure) nutrients have guaranteed that nutritional yeast will be an ingredient in every one of my homemade hiking meals from now on. I've even started using it in my daily cooking, and will be adding it to my next batch of homemade hiker's fuel bars!
