Here's Why You Should Use Nutritional Yeast

In my quest to help vegans find a good homemade hiking meal solution to fit their needs, I came across nutritional yeast, and was blown away by the nutritional value that it carries.  My searches for dehydrated food options for the vegan homemade hiking meals were yielding great results, but I wasn't achieving quite the protein content I was after, without creating a large, costly meal.

One look at the protein content in 3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast, piqued my interest.  Then I saw the plethora of other essential nutrients that it brings to the table.  There are massive amounts of B vitamins, which are incredibly important for many reasons, not the least of which being energy production.

As a result of my quest to find a good, nutritional, cost-effective homemade vegan hiking meal, I have discovered an inexpensive nutritional powerhouse.  I will be adding this ingredient to all of my homemade hiking meals from now on, because it only increases my meal cost by about 64⍧, but improves the value of the meal by far more.

Additional Nutritional Value

On top of all of the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that are present in nutritional yeast, are all of these amino acids and other nutrients.  If you're like me, you probably haven't even heard of many of them, but nutritional yeast brings them to your meals.

As if the above-listed nutrient-dense properties of the nutritional yeast weren't enough, these additional (albeit largely obscure) nutrients have guaranteed that nutritional yeast will be an ingredient in every one of my homemade hiking meals from now on.  I've even started using it in my daily cooking, and will be adding it to my next batch of homemade hiker's fuel bars!
